Reflections From the 2017 SABRE Awards
The outcomes at the Holmes Report 2017 North American SABRE Awards weren’t what we hoped. Our company was recognized in many ways: top five midsize agency to work for in North America, finalist for Corporate/B2B agency of the year, and national finalists for campaigns with Donate Life Ohio (Non-Profit Organization) and Highlights for Children (Branded Journalism). No one likes not winning the top awards. But as I sit here on a flight back from New York City, I am reminded that there’s a lot to celebrate about the journey to the national stage.
The efforts required to attain one of the honors are hard to quantify, let alone for four different categories. I believe our journey starts with leadership who believes in stretch goals and actually puts the team in a position to achieve a big vision. Neil Mortine’s longstanding efforts to differentiate the Fahlgren Mortine experience locally, regionally, nationally and within core segments are the foundation of our success.
Great leaders always seem to attract great people. I think about two of our account leaders – Lesley Waldsmith and Katherine Zuehlke – who attended last night’s ceremony and spearheaded agency teams that developed incredible campaigns for Donate Life Ohio and Highlights. They are just two examples of the hardworking and determined associates who comprise our team throughout the country. It’s these associates – regardless of level and areas of expertise – who attract and retain incredible clients.
Our journey doesn’t exist without our clients who take a chance on us and our ability to make their brands great. The Holmes Report recognized our client base in its write up of our “agency of the year” profile. We’re really proud of our journey to earn our clients’ trust, and we’re eager to expose more clients – those who too seek to achieve a big vision — to the Fahlgren Mortine experience.
Speaking of the Fahlgren Mortine experience, I would be remiss to not congratulate our former colleague and current client Jennifer Fening of Worthington Industries. Jennifer’s work with her Bernzomatic brand earned the Best of Show last night among some of the world’s greatest brands. Way to go!
In the meantime, our journey continues and we really couldn’t be more excited about the outcomes sure to come along the way.
